On the morning of May 29, 2020, at the event hosted by the Hungarian Embassy in Seoul, 38 Korean divers and other rescue professionals were awarded the Hungarian Medal of Merit for Courage, who took part in the rescue work at the scene of the tragic accident of the ship Hableány a year ago. The award was given by Dr. Sándor Pintér, Minister of Interior, Deputy Prime Minister for National Security, to Korean rescue specialists. The awards were presented at the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Seoul, Myeongdong, where Ambassador Dr. Mózes Csoma praised the divers' courage in his speech and thanked them for their work. On behalf of the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lee Sang Hui, Deputy Director General for Overseas Korean Nationals Protection, gave a brief greeting, and Colonel Song Soon Keun, a former military attaché in Budapest, recalled last year's tragedy. During the event, Colonel Song Soon Keun received the award presented by Dr. Tibor Benkő, Minister of Defense, in memory of his standing a year ago. In memory of the 26 Korean and two Hungarian victims of the tragic accident, the Embassy placed 28 white flowers at the venue, in accordance with Korean customs.
