Former President Roh Tae-woo, who served as the President of the Republic of Korea from 1988 to 1993, passed away on October 26, 2021 at the age of 88. From 1988, former President Roh provided a framework for Korea-Hungary diplomatic talks through the 'Northern Policy'.  As a result, on February 1, 1989, Hungary became the first country in the Central and Eastern European region to establish diplomatic ties with Korea. On October 27, 2021, Ambassador Dr. Mózes Csoma visited the funeral home of the Seoul National University Hospital and expressed his condolences to the son of the former President, Mr. Ro Jae Hun, who has been the Chairman of the Korean-Hungarian Friendship Association since 2019.
