ENVEX 2014 fair

In cooperation with the Hungarian Association of Environmental Enterprises (KSZGYSZ) the Embassy of Hungary has participated at the ENVEX 2014 fair held in Seoul between June 10-13, 2014. The International Exhibition on Environmental Technology & Green Energy is the largest expo of its kind in South Korea. This year 270 companies from 23 countries presented their products at the fair.

In the organization of the Association of Environmental Enterprises, products from 7 Hungarian companies were presented to the visitors at the Hungarian booth. The representative of one Hungarian producer and the representative of KSZGYSZ were attending the fair too. The expo offered great possibility for market mapping and all products received attention. The Hungarian Association of Environmental Enterprises has signed a MoU with the Korean Environmental Industry Association.

Import Goods Fair 2014

The Embassy of Hungary has participated at the Import Goods Fair 2014 held in Seoul between June 12-14, 2014 in the organization of the Korean Environmental Industry Association. This year 40 embassies presented the products of their countries at the fair.

The Hungarian booth tried to catch the interest of potential Korean distributors by the presentation of different food products. 5 Hungarian companies from the food industry have sent samples for the expo and the Korean experts showed keen interest in tasting the products. The participation was a very positive experience, all products received attention.

ROK – Visegrad 4 countries consultations in Seoul

The first-ever high-level political consultation with the four member countries of the Visegrad Group -- Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia and the Republic of Korea was held on 13 June 2014 in Seoul. The kick-off meeting and the formal start-up of the Visegrad Group 4 – South Korea cooperation took place during the V4 presidency of Hungary, the Hungarian delegation was led by Mr. Szabolcs Takács, Deputy State Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Hungary.

The delegates made a courtesy call on Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yun Byung-se, the V4-ROK consultations were then continued by Lee Kyung-soo, Korean Foreign Ministry’s Deputy Minister for Political Affairs. The political director generals and Ambassadors of the Visegrad Group 4 in Seoul were invited to meet with Deputy Minister Kim Nam-shik at the Ministry of Unification, followed by a roundtable discussion at ASAN Institute.

South Korea and the four central European countries are seeking to upgrade the level of their consultative channel, establishing a cooperation mechanism to further enhance, deepen and widen political, economic, social, cultural and scientific ties between the Visegrad Group 4 and the Republic of Korea.

During the consultations the political director generals of Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia exchanged their experiences of the successful transitioning from socialism and their thoughts about the possibilities of a peaceful unification process on the Korean peninsula.

The organization of the V4-ROK meeting in 2014 was highlighted by the fact that the Central and Eastern European countries established diplomatic relations with Korea 25 years ago, Hungary being the first country among them (1 February, 1989).

The parties agreed to work more closely together in economy and broaden the scope of their substantive cooperation to include culture, academic matters, energy and development, among others.

Trade and Investment Seminar in Daegu

UNIDO ITPO Korea organized a Trade and Investment Seminar for Strategic Foreign Markets at the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Office of Small and Medium Business Administration (SMBA) of Korea on 19 June 2014 to facilitate direct business networking between developing countries and local Korean SMEs in major industrial cities outside Seoul. During the seminar the delegation of 7 embassies introduced the latest information on local business environments of their countries. The Embassy of Hungary was represented by Mr Levente Pallos (First Secretary in charge of trade and economy) who talked about the possibilities offered by the automotive industry and the electronic market and participated in direct consultations with SMEs and entrepreneurs interested in entering Hungary.

Concert of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra in Korea

World famous conductor Zoltán Kocsis and the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra gave a very successful concert to full house in Suwon on 19 June 2014. The Suwon Hwaseong International Music Festival is held every 2 years and it hosts a range of outsatnding international artists from all around the world. The main invited guest of the 2014 Festival was the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, who performed together with internationally renowned artist Paik Kun-woo, the most famous pianist in Korea.

The concert in Suwon was also part of the program series to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Hungary-Korea diplomatic relations in 2014. The audience could enjoy a colorful poster exhibition about Hungary in the lobby of the theater building before entering the concert hall.
