Szalai Gipsy Band concert tour 2014

In the organization of BravoComm the famous Szalai Hungarian Gypsy Band arrived to Korea again. On 1 October 2014 the band performed with great success at the Sejong Art Center, in front of a thrilled Korean and Hungarian audience. Hungarian Ambassador Gábor Csaba participated at the event too.

Daejeon Food and Wine Festival 2014

The Embassy of Hungary has participated at the Daejeon International Food & Wine Festival held between 2-5 October 2014. The Hungarian booth offered wine tasting to visitors and Korean importers of Hungarian wines were presenting their products too. Deputy Mayor Miklós Csomós from the Municipality of Budapest and his delegation paid a visit to the Hungarian booth as part of their official program visiting Daejeon city, the Korean sister city of Budapest. During the event several sommeliers from renowned Seoul hotels and local distributors showed interest for the Hungarian wines and spirits.

Hungarian success at the 8th World Traditional Archery Festival

The Hungarian team delivered outstanding performance at the 8th Traditional Archery World Championships held in Danyang, South Korea between October 4-7, 2014 with the participation of 296 contestants from 35 countries. According to the information received from Pál Posta, vice-president of the Traditional Archery World Association Ernő Szórády reached second place, Szilárd Terman reached third place in the men's individual category. Andrea Skaliczky reached third place among the women competing. In the junior category Kata Rácz finished at second, while Anna Hegedűs finished at third place. The Hungarian team comprising of Szórády, Terman, István Lakatos and Attila Rácz won silver medal. On the closing day of the festival József Mónus remained unbeatable at long distance shooting. The new disciplin ballistic archery brought further Hungarian success, Andrea Skaliczky became world champion in 125m distance shooting, while József Mónus gained the world champion title in 165m distance shooting.

6th Korean Liszt piano competition price award ceremony

The price award ceremony of the 6th Korean Liszt piano competition was held at the residence of the Ambassador of Hungary on October 15, 2014. The competition was supported by several sponsors, including the Embassy of Hungary in Seoul and the Budapest Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. Renowned Hungarian professor Attila Némethy was the chairman of the jury. This year 35 talented pianists received a price and certificate, and the most talented pianist winning the 2014 competition received a one-year scholarship at the Budapest Liszt Academy of Music.

25 Year Jubilee Concert at Youngsan Art Hall

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Hungary and the Republic of Korea the Embassy of Hungary in Seoul and the Korean Liszt Association has jointly organized a jubilee concert at Youngsan Art Hall on 18 October 2014. Performers of the event included the artists of the Korean Liszt Society, Hungarian concert violinist Rodrigo Puskás and Hungarian soprano Judit V. Molnár, who have performed music pieces of renowned Hungarian and Korea composers to the delight of the Korean and Hungarian audience.

25 Year Jubilee National Day Reception in Seoul

To commemorate the 58th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and in celebration of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Hungary and the Republic of Korea the Embassy of Hungary in Seoul gave a reception in one of the most prestigious hotels of Seoul on 20 October 2014. Hungarian Ambassador Gábor Csaba invited Shin Dong-ik, Deputy Minister for Multilateral and Global Affairs from MOFA to deliver a speech at the event. As for the cultural program of the evening, Hungarian soprano Judit V. Molnár was singing the national anthem of both countries, followed by the performance of the famous ‘Szilágyi Erzsébet’ aria from the opera “Hunyadi László”, composed by Hungarian composer Ferenc Erkel. The event was moderated by Hungarian speaking Korean actress Han Soo-yeon, which made the reception truly special.
